Things I Did

I had the wonderful “pleasure” of being woken up multiple times by Sashi this morning, as she panicked over what I can only assume was Lucy going outside without her. For the most part I ignored her, but never really got back to sleep after that. That left me tired and unmotivated, but I did manage to get myself up and dressed, and walked down to the Sheriff’s station to drop off the needles from the dogs’ shots into their sharps container. That gave my 1.2 miles to add to my goal of 20 miles walked this month, and it puts me almost at the halfway point. It also gave me my three episodes of exercise for the week, which is good, because I suck at being consistent.

I spent a couple of hours late last night and this afternoon working on my menu planning and finally setting up a meal calender I like. Filling in dinners for us were easy enough, but coming up with ideas for breakfasts and lunches was tougher- I can really use ideas guys! Most days breakfasts and lunches consist of the same few things rotated around a bit- cottage cheese with fruit, lunch meat and an apple, scrambled eggs with mushrooms, a can of tuna mixed with Italian salad dressing, a small salad, mostly greens. I’d like to have at least two more breakfast and lunch ideas, and while eggs are nice, they just aren’t very filling on their own. I am thinking of making a spinach and mushroom quiche to have a few mornings, but its still eggs. So really, help! I’ll entertain anything without bread, rice, pasta, or white potatoes!

menusThis is a sample from my menu planning as it is right now. I have it broken down into pretty basic sections- each line in a block, form top to bottom, correlates to a meal.

1. Breakfast2. Lunch
3. Snack #1
4. Snack #2
5. Dinner Main Dish
6. Dinner Side #1
7. Dinner Side #2

On the right is the points value of each item, with an automatic total at the bottom. You’re probably looking at the square for 2/11 and thinking “OMG! You have to eat more!” Trust me, I will. These are guidelines, not absolutely set in stone. I will be following them closely, but if I have a ton of points left over, and am hungry, believe me, I will find something to eat! And as you can see, there are still a few items I need to figure out the points. Luckily most of that is done, and I’m just trying to find breakfast ideas.

I also wanted to show you this. This is my points tracker for each week. The formulas in the lower cells are simple enough, but they do a fair amount of math. Points are filled in at the end of the day, activity points earned are subtracted to give the adjusted total, and the last cell in each column shows how many points are remaining. That cell takes the number of daily points allowed – (days in the week that have passed added together – number of extra weekly points) It tells me how many of my weeklies remain at the end of the day, as well as any unused points from the days themselves. I count by the week, not so much by the day, and let unused points roll-over through the week.

Anyway, the point is the week is almost over, and I am so on track still it hurts! When I stepped on the scale this morning and saw it said 188.4 pounds, I gave a little squeal of happiness. I wanted to make it to 188 something or other by Sunday’s official weigh in. Looks like I’ll be there unless I eat the house in the interim.

Things I Ate

Food was good with a sweet potato with some butter, lunch meat, and an apple serving as some mixture of breakfast and lunch. We decided to go to The Thai for dinner, and we ended up getting held up for a few hours before leaving, so I had a fruit cup before we left. I went with sweet and sour pork (which I didn’t even finish) and we shared a combo platter of appetizers. I also had a Thai iced coffee, which is freaking delicious. I had to guess my points, but put it for 25 for the meal, though really who knows. Either way I still had plenty of points left to burn this week.
